Whatever I feel like making it about

It fits, it works, I love this thing! Ok, she doesn’t look so impressed at first, but she got over it. I made a small fleece pillow for her since she sometimes still tilts to one side or the other.

Inspecting her new seat cover:

Got her toys and ready to roll.

You know the rest. Dishcloths, blah blah blah. Later.

I have been busy, really. This is the shopping cart seat cover in progress. Sure, it looks like a pile of squares on a big square, but something exciting is going to happen soon. I hope. Actually this is a pretty fun project and I can’t wait to get started on the one for my little girl.

That little red hat I was working on? Frogged. The green tshirt? Frogged, restarted, frogged, restarted, finally frogged. Mostly I just sit and do dishcloths. They are starting to pile up!

I have a couple of patterns drawn out on the charts, they just need to be counted and written down. Amazingly, that is the part I hate most. Go figure.

Ok, so I started something, but it doesn’t count because I finished it within an hour.

Also, everyone needs a candy corn potholder, right?

I did finish a couple of dischloths, but nothing exciting enough to take a picture of just yet.

Yay, it is WIP day! This is where I bore you with pictures of all of my WIPs, in some misdirected effort to hold myself accountable for finishing them. Anyway.

Oh, how shocking, a star blanket. This one is made with Lily Babies cotton in white sparkle and, well, some pastel stuff. See?

Also in the bag, I am attempting this little set from Too Cute Crochet. Eggplant hat and mitts.

So far I have managed the stem. It isn’t that the pattern is difficult, but it does require some concentration, counting, and most of all lack of anyone jabbering in my ear. Those moments are few and far between around here, hence the slow progress.

So that’s crochet. Knitting we of course have a dishcloth, and this picture isn’t really about the few nondescript rows of yellow yarn, it is about those gorgeous Brittany birch needles. I could make dishcloths all day with these. Yummy.

Also riding around in the small pink “travelling project” bag is this red hat, which the voices are telling me to make a little pointy and put some white fluffy trim on for Christmas.

Finally in knitting we have my first ever attempt at non-baby clothing. I’m making a child size tshirt out of Omega Sinfonia.

Last but not least, sewing that shopping cart cover this week. I’m going to use up some of this fireman fabric for my first attempt. I like to make my first effort a gift, it keeps me careful but persistent. I don’t know. It’s my brain, just let me deal with it the best I can.

So there they are. I do solemnly swear to start nothing new until at least two of these are finished. No, really.

You be the judge. Someone told me the alien probably looked better from the other side, and demanded a photo. So. She was right.

I decided to go with a tshirt for my more challenging project. That cabled backpack is so cute, but it is still so hot here I can’t really deal with wool at the moment.

Hm, yeah and I finished some blankets today and am almost over my fear of the shopping cart cover and ready to try that.

Yeah, I’m not that good at charting. Here is an alleged alien head that I traced onto graph paper and then pulled out several thousand hairs writing a pattern. Combined with the postpartum balding going on, I really couldn’t afford that. Ah well.

Tonight I am determined to start a project more interesting than dishcloths and star blankets. Maybe the felted backpack from knitpicks. Maybe a t-shirt, if I can find a good pattern.

Bleh.

These are not my dishcloths. Ok, they are mine in that I received them in the dishcloth swap. I did not make them. I wish I had made them, they are gorgeous. It is now my mission in life to pester my swapper until she coughs up the patterns.

I just realized that every single time I upload an image, I have to open the original email from my web guru and copy the link location. You’d think I would have memorized it by now, or figured out how to do it an easier way. You’d think. You’d be sadly mistaken.

I am a dishcloth making machine. Well, I was. I was turning out one of these a day, to make these cute coordinated sets, but I have a ton of sewing to do over the weekend and that’s going to slow me down. Bleh.

Green and blue with dolphins. Pretty! The variegated yarn is done in this pattern, which may possibly be my new favorite dishcloth pattern ever.

Pink and blinding orange with a groovy flower. I like this set even better.

There is, of course, another star blanket being worked up, but how many pictures of those do you really need to see?

This weekend I am doing up some samples of my blankets for a local shop to display. Also, the mailman brought me the shopping seat cover pattern and I am very excited to give that a shot as well.
