Whatever I feel like making it about

I’ll not bore you with pictures of sock cuffs again today – both the garter rib socks and the pastel stripes are about halfway to the heel flap. Today I spent most of my time dyeing some sock yarn. It kept me out of trouble, and temporarily satisfies my craving for new sock yarn. I did four skeins today, all fingering weight merino. I can’t wait to knit some of this up (some is going to be given away).

The long lost socks are finished, yay!

Socks the second are moving along nicely.

Oh look, more socks! These are done in garter rib, but I’m only about 8 rows into the garter rib after the initial cuff rib, so not that exciting. Yet!

Checked out Socks, Socks, Socks from the library today and quickly realized I must own it. These little girly socks (along with many other patterns) are calling my name quite insistently.

I’ll take a break from sock knitting soon. In a couple of days I’ll be handpainting some sock yarn. Ok, I’ve got this sock thing bad. BAD.

Feet, we almost have feet! I am consumed with thoughts of socks during every waking moment.

Naturally, all that round and round got a little dull, so I took a break and cast on some ribbing for…

…more socks.

Socks which are calling me to come listen to the iPod and knit yet another few inches.

I found them, my long lost little socks. Found them and tackled the whole heel thing. I’m decreasing the gusset thingies now. The magic loop, two at once thing is really wonderful, but I am definitely using a 60″ cable after this pair. The 40″ doesn’t leave enough room for stupid things like pushing your sock too far and having it fall right off the needle. I heard. Yeah.

The socks have pretty much consumed me, but I am doing another boring felted bag while waiting my turn at Super Monkey Ball. This Lion Wool is turning my needles blue, and it is scratchy. So. Can’t wait for this one to be done.

Ack, I have an MIA WIP!

If anyone sees a pair of orange and pink socks on a 60″ circular that are just legs waiting for me to get up the nerve to turn their heels…

tell them to come home! It will be different this time, I promise. I can do your heels. I won’t shove you into a corner again and pretend you don’t exist. I’m ready. Come out, come out, wherever you are.

I have got to do a frog or finish, like, yesterday.

Can’t stop knitting. That’s a good thing, right? Sure.

I finished something. That’s a very good thing. I made this sweater with no pattern because I couldn’t find a pattern that was easy enough. It turned out sweater shaped, and that is all that matters to me . The yarn is YarnBee Mosaic Twist, a super soft bulky yarn that is really fun to work with.

Can you model the sweater for mommy? Yeah, not so much. Sigh.

Other children around the house are patiently waiting for their mittens – because we need mittens so often here in Texas. I made most of the left one for this pair today. Tonight, the thumb and starting yet another pair for the other boy.

One more felted bag, because they are just so mindless and I can always find someone who wants them. I spent a really long time figuring out the math for the buttonhole handles on this after taking the picture. Hopefully I didn’t lose the scrap of paper I wrote down the final count on, so I can get this thing done quickly as well.

Last active project (as in, not sitting in a bin in the craft pit being ignored) is this bell sleeved shrug I am making for…myself! This yarn is a wonderful cotton blend I got from a friend and have been waiting for quite a while to use. Obviously I need to think about not taking pictures against a matching countertop for the next update. Duh.

That’s all, but it seems like enough to me. I’m waiting for the weather to warm up again so I can get some sewing done. The craft pit’s heating and insulation are not the greatest. Brrr.
