fun with flickr

How much fun is flickr? How much more fun is it with toys?

Tonight’s procrastination tool – Spell with flickr.

W for Wellington A I T Cronulla beach warning

W Vintage LEGO Letter H A t003 question mark ?

Oh, and I finally uploaded episode 48. Yeah.

I finished a dishcloth and started another. A basic 6×6 weave pattern that my brain falls into naturally. I want to work on my socks, but just don’t have the focus for it. Also, it is a billion degrees here, and the very thought of touching wool is unbearable.

Again with the lizards?

Posted by randomnicole on July 24, 2008

One night my neighbors are going to call the police on someone lurking around my backyard with a flash camera. I’ll be sure to report back on the conversation we have. Because I cannot get over the lizards.

It started on Plurk (no, really?), when I shared a picture of a lizard that I had found on the outside of the house while I was escorting Dog on his late night bodily function fiesta.

One night, there were three. i couldn’t find the camera. i was outside without the camera! OMFG ACK HALP. But they were still there when I finally got it together and went back outside.

I’m at the Louvre, or How awesome are the interwebs?

Posted by randomnicole on July 21, 2008

While checking in on some forums and social nets tonight, I attempted to help someone using my nefarious google-fu. Unfortunately for everyone, I became completely sidetracked and ended up at the “Imaginary exhibitions” section of the Louvre online.

In order to view the imaginary exhibitions, I had to install the Virtools plugin. My Flock browser accepted it without protest. Yay.

Once I played with it a bit and saw how cool it was, I figured I’d make a capture thingy with Jing and call it a blog post.

So I did.

But I can’t seem to embed it or convert it or anything cool like that. There was also some incompetence involved, like the time I closed Jing before saving the file. Um, yeah. I can climb no higher on the learning curve tonight.

My computer was too wimpy to handle capturing and the 3D, but the 2D is also cool. I paused recording during the 360° tour, because it made me dizzy and I’m sparing you that pain. Go see it you can deal with that stuff. The 3D is awesome and was worth falling down a random tube on the interwebs tonight, even if it made me have Wolfenstein flashbacks. (Which omg you can download free here.)

I did learn a lot, actually. I’ll be paying for it tomorrow morning. Bedtime was two hours and 13 browser tabs ago. I should go get the coffee pot ready now.

Tagged for a meme, and you’re to blame

Posted by randomnicole on July 14, 2008

I give blogs, a bad name?

Whatever.

My Plurk buddy Quiltcetera tagged me for this the other day. I was kind of glad, since it actually was a kick in the butt needed to get me posting again. So here it is.

By the way, are you on Plurk? Why not? Freak. Get there now, it is where all the fun people are. Go.

So here is her post about the meme.

And here is my whack at it.

Here are the rules….
1. Link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. Share six unimportant things about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your entry.

Six unimportant things about me? Besides, oh, everything? Ok.

1. I hate talking on the phone. But I freak out if I don’t have my cell phone with me. Also, I do a podcast, which is basically? Talking on the phone, recording it, and sharing it with the entire interwebs. I don’t get it either.

2. I have a shoebox sized container full of nail polish, but never seem to have the color I really want.

3. I wear black and denim almost exclusively, because I can’t be bothered to coordinate an “outfit” when I have to leave the house.  Except for my flannel pants, which I wear in the house year round. In Texas.

4. I really hate the color orange.

5. Not multi-tasking (or multi-slacking) drives me nuts. Two things at once is taking it easy.

6. I listen to a lot of talk radio podcasts and am rather obsessive about updating them. Spend lots of times messing with iTunes.

  • That was not as easy as I thought it would be. Gah.

  • And now for…

Six random (heh) people to tag for this? Let’s see…a nice mixture of people who will have fun with it and people who will want to kill me for it. We’ll see which are which.

    1. Venus
    2. Diane
    3. Walt
    4. Jeckles
    5. Chris
    6. Will

    Ring, ring, ring, bandana pants!

Posted by randomnicole on July 11, 2008

So Venus sent me this link the other day. I was immediately obsessed. Seriously, I dreamed about shopping for the bandanas that night.

I bought the bandanas yesterday, washed them last night, and sewed them up this afternoon. I did use elastic instead of ties, because, well, I’m lazy. That is not news, people. I did do the zigzag on the raw edges, and even hemmed them a little bit. That counts for something.

The hardest part, honestly? Getting my model to hold still for pictures. I had to resort to Steve. Divas do have their demands, you know.
